The capstone project aims at exposing the students to advanced topics in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The process involves solving a problem or with meeting a challenge in the industry. Students have to choose any area of interest to them - either based on their own current employer or of a wider problem in the industry. The project should demonstrate the use of knowledge gained during the class room sessions to address the problem. Students will be doing the capstone under a faculty guide.
ISCM and the corporate (in case of sponsored candidates) and the participant will identify a topic for the capstone within the first three weeks of the course. For sponsored candidates, the project will be done under the guidance of an in-company mentor and a faculty guide. ISCM has a structured approach for choice of topics. Usually, the topic will be of strategic import to the candidate’s firm.
Once the participant chooses the topic, the faculty will guide them in the process of the research – from identifying the sources of information to conducting the study. The faculty will help the candidate clearly defining the purpose of the study, the scope, and coverage, define variables to be studied and their relevance with the purpose of study and specify the expected outcome (if possible) and expected benefit to the Industry. The report will be prepared in the template used by ISCM.
The pedagogy keeps in mind the schedule of the participants. The pedagogy will include class room studies, group and individual assignments, presentations and case study. Projects will be used to involve participants in an active discussion on economic concepts. Participants will work together in groups. Groups will be an important part of the learning experience.
